XTerra ATB Financial off-road triathlon, after the race

Beautiful day for racing in Canmore, although it was a bit cold in the morning.. My friend Steve picked me up at the campground and we both headed out to T1 to set up the bike. With T1 ready we drove to T2 to set up our running shoes, cap and glasses.. Pre-race meeting completed and we were getting on the bus to head down the the Quary lake.
Swimming was good, although I wasn't as fast as I wanted too (22min for 1,000mts), out of the water running to my bike my heart rate started to climb up !! I am so glad that I was wearing my jersey underneath my wetsuit, because otherwise it would have been a nightmare to put it on while I was still wet !! It took me forever to put on my gloves (will never attempt to put on gloves with my hands wet again, not worthy). Off I went on my bike for 1hour and 40min for 22ks, lots of climbing and technical downhills. I was feeling really good on the bike and was chasing down Adrian (another terrascaper) all the way (couldn't get him though, and he was only 5 min ahead) darn, I was so sure I was going to get him !! anyway, finished the bike and with my running shoes on off I go again to chase him down in the run. The trail running is a bit different, and at Canmore with all the climbing and loose terrain for the downhill it was tough to keep up the speed.. Finished the 8ks in 45min and I was completely spent..
Another great race to keep me motivated to train more and try to get faster !!
